Planning for critical thinking instruction in a standards-based curriculum today includes using technology not only to help develop critical thinking but to help us ensure that all students are given an equitable chance at success. In this assessment, you will demonstrate that you have mastered this planning practice, not only for critical thinking but to meet standards, integrate technology, and ensure equity for all students.

Is appropriate in scope for creating a 60- to 75-minute lesson
Use the Critical Thinking Lesson Plan Template to create a standards-focused critical thinking lesson plan which incorporates:
Student use of technology tool(s) to enhance or promote students’ critical thinking skills
Quality questioning and critical thinking instructional strategies
Design a summative performance assessment for the lesson that includes the following:
Student directions for each part of the assessment written in complete sentences and starting with a verb (e.g., “Describe the…,” “Explain the…”)
Brief explanation of how the assessment measures content mastery and use of critical thinking skills
Use the Critical Thinking Assessment Rubric Template to create a summative assessment rubric which does the following:
Aligns to the summative assessment’s directions
Includes criteria for measuring content mastery
Includes criteria for measuring critical thinking skills
