The project will be broken into three segments. The first segment will cover your background research portion. The second part will cover your site assessments including your field work. The final part of this project will cover your report and conclusions.
Environmental Site Assessment Project Rubric-Project is conducted based off college campus (Oakland Community College Orchard Ridge Campus)
Segment 1: Background Research –
Understanding of the Site’s History (Oakland Community College-Orchard Rridge Campus) and Context (10 points)
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the site’s historical use, previous activities, and relevant regulations.
Includes a comprehensive overview of the site’s geographical location, climate, and ecological significance.
Identification of Potential Environmental Concerns (15 points)
Identifies and discusses potential environmental issues related to the site, such as pollution sources, hazardous materials, or ecological impacts.
Evaluates the potential risks and impacts on human health and the environment.
Integration of Literature and Research (10 points)
Incorporates relevant scientific literature and credible sources to support the analysis of the site’s environmental concerns.
Shows a comprehensive understanding of the existing research on similar sites or environmental issues.
Segment 2: Site Assessment
Field Investigation and Data Collection (10 points)
Demonstrates effective field investigation techniques, such as sampling, observation, and measurements.
Collects and presents accurate and relevant data related to the site’s environmental conditions, including soil quality, air quality, water quality, and biodiversity.
Data Analysis and Interpretation (15 points)
Applies appropriate analytical methods to interpret the collected data.
Presents clear and logical analysis of the data, identifying patterns, trends, and potential impacts on the environment and human health.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation Strategies (15 points)
Conducts a thorough risk assessment of the identified environmental concerns.
Proposes effective mitigation strategies to minimize or eliminate potential risks.
Segment 3: Conclusions
Overall Project Organization and Presentation (10 points)
Demonstrates a clear and well-structured organization of the project, including an introduction, methodology, results, and conclusions.
Presents information in a professional and visually appealing manner, with appropriate use of graphs, tables, and visuals.
Depth of Conclusions and Recommendations (10 points)
Draws well-supported conclusions based on the background research and site assessment.
Provides clear and feasible recommendations for addressing the identified environmental concerns.
Communication and Writing Skills (5 points)
Demonstrates effective communication skills through clear and concise writing.
Uses proper grammar, spelling, and citation style.
