After you review the Great Openings and Closings video on making introductions in presentations, write out an introduction that you might use when presenting a strategic plan to the agency director at your ideal future place of employment. Be sure to put some identifying information of your ideal exemplar agency in the first paragraph. Clearly identify the four sections of the introduction reviewed in the video.
Opening statement & introduction
You will not regret taking the time to hear my plans, by the time I am done speaking, or someone takes my mic, you will understand why. I have my degree in child & family services from Southern New Hampshire University and have worked with children of all ages and abilities for the last 5 years. In those 5 years, I have seen my share of trials and tribulations and because of my help, so many children and families come out on the other side better than ever. Who else in the room has worked with children ? Maybe some case workers? Teachers? Nurses? Psychiatrists? Isn’t it the most fulfilling career?? The hard work and dedication I have shown my clients is just the beginning, I am just getting started. I would love to bring my energy and passion to your agency and show you what an amazing addition to the team I will be. I know you most likely have questions for me as well, so let me finish up my ideas and let’s dive in, I am an open book !
Purpose & Overview
I know that at Autism Society you offer training and resources based on mental health, physical health, education, housing employment and so much more. I’d like to help expand your reach and offer a strategic plan that would broaden your exposure and help even more people and families! Your vision, “Creating a world where everyone in the Autism community is connected to the support they need, when they need it”, is so powerful and important. According to the CDC, as of 2023, around 1 in 36 children in the U.S. has been diagnosed with autism, Most families with a newly diagnosed child do not even know where to begin to get the help they need. My strategic plan is made to do just that, help families begin. Help them get started with valid, relevant information rather than simply a pamphlet from their pediatrician and a “it’ll be okay”.  I want families to feel empowered, feel like their voices will be heard and they will always have us at Autism society helping them behind the scenes and pushing for what they deserve.
Closing
I know you will take everything I said today and have a decision to make, please make the right one, the right one is to adapt my plan and reach more families in need of your amazing services. Thank you so very much for taking the time to meet with me today, I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and will leave here knowing that together, we can make a huge difference for families with members on the spectrum. I cannot wait to get started!
